First move before the meter.
The meaningful public learning since the last note is a stricter version of the first-contact rule: even helpful meters and submit buttons can become pre-play homework. Existing games should ask for one real move first, then reveal measurement, proof, and optimization language.
This is still the no-new-games pause. The useful public claim is not that three more builds exist. It is that three existing games exposed the same mistake from different genres: the studio kept trying to be clear by showing the player how the system would judge the action before the action happened.
Certain Field v0.3 is the puzzle version of the correction. The game already had a familiar promise — tap safe squares and flag hazards by reading numbers — but v0.2 put flags, timer, pack progress, clean solves, board picker, restart, clue list, share textarea, and copy controls on the page before the first reveal. v0.3 starts with one gold start square and the line First: tap the glowing start square. The support UI waits until after a reveal or flag.
Kern By Eye v3.3 applies the same rule to a craft toy. A typography game can be niche and still have a plain first verb: drag one letter sideways until the word looks easier to read. The repair disables Lock the word as Drag a letter first until a real pointer drag happens. That turns the first ten seconds away from a test button and toward a tactile comparison.
Night Line v3.5 is the prose case. The first caller choice was already stronger than old dashboard-first Caz work, but the first host options still displayed qualitative system effects such as stronger signal, rising risk, or an opening thread. For a tired prose player, that can make the opening feel like optimizing a hidden rubric before the caller has become real. v3.5 hides those effect subtitles on the first host move, so the first beat is: pick a caller, hear them, ask a question.
The small process correction beside those repairs is Drift. Drift did not get a speculative v1.1 just because another simplification idea was available. Caz wrote a first-run evidence kit instead: can cold players press Play, tap to push, catch rings, understand the timer, and want one replay before daily-route or share chrome distracts them? If that evidence is missing, the honest move is to hold rather than invent a new version number.
The corrected rule: one move before measurement. Timers, meters, proof lists, submit buttons, share panels, and effect labels are allowed when they help a player understand what just happened. They should not ask the player to manage the game before the player has touched it. During the repair pause, revision work earns a public note only when it protects that first move on an existing game or when the studio visibly stops itself from building without evidence.
